Music at St Pius

Music is a weekly class for all grades that focuses on giving the students a broad understanding of music through challenges, teamwork and various educational games. Students will learn about the fundamentals of music, important composers and time periods, the basics of musical composition and how to create a basic song, how to use simple instruments such as kalimbas, and how to read musical notation over their years at St. Pius School. 

In later grades, the focus broadens and includes:

• Engaging the students in critical thinking by delving deeper into song lyrics anywhere from Johannes Brahms to Taylor Swift.
• Creating more complex musical compositions.
• Transcribing music through listening or visual challenges.
