Technology Curriculum
Starting in Kindergarten students come to the computer lab once a week. Through the years the students learn various software applications including: drawing, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, photo manipulation, and web browsing. In addition to learning important software skills the students also explore how to evaluate and site sources and participate as responsible Cyber-citizens.
What we do in the lab:
Kindergarten - 2nd Grade
• Demonstrate appropriate use of technology
• Learn about the mouse and other input devices
• Practice mouse skills in drawing programs
• Letter identification on the keyboard
• Basic word processing skills
• Introduction to graphic organizing software
3rd Grade - 5th Grade
• Demonstrate appropriate use of technology
• Explore and display the common uses of technology in daily life
• Examine responsible uses of technology and information
• Use various technology tools to display and share information
• Use technology resources for problem solving
• Evaluate information
6th Grade - 8th Grade
• Demonstrate appropriate use of technology
• Determine the appropriate software or hardware tool needed to complete an activity
• Develop strategies to identify and solve routine hardware and software problems
• Display knowledge of various skills needed to proficiently work within common software programs
