Kindergarten
Kindergarten students
spend time working individually and as a
class to learn the basic skills to succeed
in school. In language arts, students
focus on phonics, sight words, reading and
handwriting skills. In religion,
kindergartners learn they are part of
God's family and they can pray to Him at
any time. During math, the children enjoy taking part in a variety of interactive, hands-on activities that involve working out problems on the SMARTBoard. Objects such as counters, buttons and pattern blocks are also used to do simple counting, addition and subtraction, and to create patterns. Social studies and science are very exciting because of the ways the children have the opportunity to learn, through real world experiences and hands-on experiments. Kindergarten is more than learning the basics; the children learn how to share, work and play together inside the classroom and on the playground. They paint, build, play and create arts and crafts. Kindergarten is a busy room where children have fun while learning.
